I just *gulp* took a really big step.
I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a nail salon for my mom to
run so that she can be a lady boss and relax instead of working hard
with my dad in their canteen stall. As an only child, I can’t really
support them and myself well on my current salary. I don’t intend to
quit my job – just get a salon running under my parents’ management so
that the profits can support my parents without them having to slog away
all day.
I decided to take up a proper course so that I can be better equipped
with the knowledge to start a salon and train the staff well. Given my
interest in nail art, I didn’t mind taking the course. After much
research, I finally settled on a Diploma in Professional Nail Technology
from
Pink Room International Professional Nail Academy.
It’s the most comprehensive programme I could find, plus you take
exams and get internationally-recognised certificates from Japan and
Korea, so even though it’s the most expensive course available in
Singapore, I decided on it. It’s going to cost me $4000.
There are three main components – natural nail care, extension and
nail art. I’m going to start with the nail art first sometime next
month. Can’t wait! How exciting!
