A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom : Practice, Practice and Practice!

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom - Shona [SIN12-xx2A]Student since January 2012.

Practice, Practice and Practice!

I had my first pedi class last Saturday and my partner was Ruby! :) Hahaha excuse my meaty legs >;( We were tasked to do the entire pedicure process on one foot in 35 minutes! Quite a challenge and none of us could finish on time! Sigh… mock pedi is in about a month’s time, yikes!!

I wouldn’t be able to attend next week’s class so I had a makeup class this week with Serene! Lol we were ‘lost’ for awhile because we haven’t attend this week’s class yet so we had no idea we had to polish our own nails red first before starting! We had to do the entire manicure process this time round with 2 simple nail art in 50 minutes! I almost finished on time… was left with another coat of french tip and the nail art D: guess I have to speed up more!

Finished product: Serene’s hands! Still need lots of improvement on the French! Nicole says the red is good ^^ yay!!!!

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom : Mint!

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom - Ivy [SIN11-xx9J]
Student since October 2011.

FRIDAY, 30 MARCH 2012

New towels!

Finally I found e correct size of e towel to cover e hand rest ! And Its mint color ! But thats e last piece :(
For classic manicure we need 1 long towel and 1 small hand towel. For classic pedicure, we will need long towels. I bought white towels for pedi as there is no more mint colored left. I should keep a look out and buy a couple more mint colored towel.. White and mint look nice & fresh ! Don't you think so?

My setup for full procedure manicure. Taken in school yesterday :)
Perfect match with my phone casing - gift from angel <3

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom : Almost there!

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom - Ivy [SIN11-xx9J]
Student since October 2011.

FRIDAY, 30 MARCH 2012

Almost there!

We had complete full procedure for both mani and pedi. There will be a couple full practice sessions followed by a mock exam for pedi.. As exam only include mani, this mock pedi exam will be marked and points will be carried forward. E Professional mani exam should be ard end May. Wonder if I had time to practice. Need to start planning now.. Stress!

Afterwhich we will have nail art level 1 course! Looking forward to that. Part of e reason I signed up THEPINKROOM is because of this nail art !!

I am impressed by how real e panda look like! This is drawn by a student not e trainer. Impressive huh!

When i first visited PINKROOM to enquire more about this diploma course, this nail art portfolio at the entrance caught my eyes. At that time, i jus started my Nail ArtBox Facebook account and start some seriousness on Nail Art. This panda reminds me of my first animal drawing. Remember my first Ms Cutie design? It was e silly Panda.

Look closely at the PINKROOM's panda. You can even see their fur! And e expression was so lovely! OMG! Who can do fall in love with this!

This is my target. Master this Nail Art !
Art on your fingertips. This is not easy.

NAILYMPICS USA'11 - Joe's Competition Winnings!!

Extracts from: http://blogs.nailsmag.com/CompetitionInsider/archive/2011/11/23/Nailympics-Recap.aspx
The Nailmypics that were held last Oct 23th and Oct 24th, saw competitors from all over the world coming together to compete under top-quality judging and in challenging events. Nail techs from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, Australia, Columbia, Puerto Rico, and all over the U.S., brought the Nailmypics back to the U.S. with pride, since the event has not been held on American soil since 2006.
They have been going on continually in London these past years, but the turnout for the Nailympics in October and the quality of nails done left head judge Lysa Comfort filled with pride.

Here are some highlights from the competition as well as the complete results below.

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom : Cuticle Care, Massaging and Polishing!

A Student's Study-Log @PinkRoom - Shona [SIN12-xx2A]
Student since January 2012.

Cuticle Care, Massaging and Polishing!

Photobucket
I was 30 mins early for class last week so I set up my table really slowly.. Recently I bought more new towels in the same colour, more organisation stuff and did the labels of all the tools and products used, yay!
Learnt about cuticle care and massaging techniques today and it was so enjoyable!!! Had so much laughter with my classmates; I really like them alot! :)
Photobucket
I partnered Ruby for the entire lesson and we started on cuticle trimming on ourselves first before proceeding to do our partners! Afterwards, we learnt the massaging techniques and steps for both hands and feet! I think the massaging part was the best… because all of us get to relax for awhile!
Photobucket
And then it was back to polishing again! Had to polish 3 fingers red and 2 fingers French. I suck at French for nail polish since it dries up much quickly then gel polishes! Need more practice!!! Also… Teacher Nicole was emphasizing on our homework again! I think I better start filing soon lol! (wanted to do them last night but forgot that I left my box of clear tips in school -.-)
It’s gonna be pedi class tomorrow :)

Pink Room (PRINA) Certificate Examination March 2012

We had just finished our Pink Room (PRINA) Certificate Examination last Sunday!
Students taking part in this month's Certificate Examination gathered in school early in the morning with their models and their tools. We overheard that many of them did not sleep the entire night. Some rushing to finish their assignments. Some were too nervous to sleep. And others were still practicing till the wee hours the night before. They are aware that the passing-mark is very stringent.

The morning started with registrations and checking of model's nails~~ The whole situation was very chaotic as it was the first time for those taking the exams, and they did not know what they should do!

The usually quiet corridors of International Plaza outside Pink Room (PRINA) were filled with chatters of the PRINA girls! Everyone doing their last minute preparations to make sure that their exam kit is ready before the start of the exam; some doing last minute crapping from their  Pink Room (PRINA) Theory Exam. ~~

Pink Room (PRINA) exams starts exactly on-time and everyone would only be allowed into the exam halls once the designated stated time reached. You could feel the anxiety in the room while the manicurists were setting up their table.... this was part of the Pink Room (PRINA) exam too.

While the our students are busy setting up their tables, all their models are gathered outside the exam hall waiting. So many people everywhere! Thank goodness for our Pink Room (PRINA) ultra big campus to be able to hold soooo many people at one time.

Our Principal Rachel grades everyone's setup and brief everyone on the Pink Room (PRINA) Certificate Exam questions and criteria. She also gave a short briefing on what is the required standard, what constitutes for a immediate fail and what to avoid doing during the examination.

You can see Principal Rachel doing her "rounds" marking and grading the students during the entire
Pink Room (PRINA) Certificate Exam. Ensuring each and everyone details of the service process is correct and every students' skills & techniques learnt during class is up to standards.

It was peace and quiet for awhile before the manicure exam ended, but once the exam finished; everyone was outside the exam hall, while the examiners and Principal Rachel graded the models' nails. The whole school was filled with excitement, chatters of students started sharing their experiences during the exam! For awhile, it felt like everyone knew each other (although they are from different class)~~ Like our Pink Room (PRINA) students always say, they are glad to join PinkRoom for they've met many new friends during the process!
